Talons Central Power Rankings 2/24/2010

While the league is still finishing tryouts for the 2010 season Arena Fan has started their interactive ranking poll. As it stands now 16 people have voted and the teams are ranked as such:

1. Dallas Vigilantes
2. Arizona Rattlers
3. Chicago Rush
4. Spokane Shock
5. Orlando Predators
6. Cleveland Gladiators
7. Milwaukee Iron
8. Tampa Bay Storm
9. Jacksonville Sharks
10. Alabama Vipers
11. Tulsa Talons
12. Iowa Barnstormers
13. Utah Blaze
14. OKC Yard Dawgz
15. Bossier-Shreveport Battlewings

This poll however does not have very many votes yet. I would encourage everyone to go to their site and vote. It seems Dallas is getting a huge boost from being in a conference with 3 former AF2 teams, including the Tulsa Talons.

My Pre-Tryouts Power Rankings are as follows:

1. Chicago Rush
2. Cleveland Gladiators
3. Dallas Vigilantes
4. Spokane Shock
5. Jacksonville Sharks
6. Tulsa Talons
7. Tampa Bay Storm
8. Orlando Predators
9. Iowa Barnstormers
10. Alabama Vipers
11. Arizona Rattlers
12. Bossier-Shreveport Battlewings
13. Utah Blaze
14. OKC Yard Dawgz
15. Milwaukee Iron

Chicago was probably the best team of the AFL's last season that is returning to this new AFL. Dallas, while having the best record in the 2008 AFL season, will hurt to replace quarterback Clint Dolezel. Jacksonville gains from picking up veteran quarterback Aaron Garcia; who had put up amazing numbers in the last decade as a part of the New York Dragons. Spokane and Tulsa, being the two best teams of the AF2 coming to the AFL, have to be given respect against the AFL teams.

The Arena Football League is back!

Last year the Arena Football League (AFL) filed for bankruptcy following the suspension of the 2009 season. This also meant the end of the AFL's development league, AF2. Many of AF2's board of directors, however, continued to meet and decided to form a league to replace the void left by the AFL that would also keep many of their teams active. The league was originally titled Arena Football One and bought the AFL's assets, including team names and logos for both the AFL and AF2. On February 17th, 2010 the AF1 officially announce that the league would change its name to the Arena Football League.

The new league will be made up of a combination of old AFL and AF2 teams, many of which will continue to use their original names and logos. Consisting of 15 teams, the league will divided into 2 conferences, each with 2 divisions. League lineup for 2010:

American Conference

Southern Division
Alabama Vipers (AF2)
Jacksonville Sharks (new)
Orlando Predators (AFL)
Tampa Bay Storm (AFL)

Southwest Division
Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings (AF2)
Dallas Vigilantes (new)
Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz (AF2)
Tulsa Talons (AF2)

National Conference

Midwest Conference
Chicago Rush (AFL)
Cleveland Gladiators (AFL)
Iowa Barnstormers (AF2)
Milwaukee Iron (AF2)

Western Conference
Arizona Rattlers (AFL)
Spokane Shock (AF2)

Note 0n the Dallas Vigilantes: Originally was the Dallas Desperados from the AFL but decided to reform under a new team name.
